2 Bangladeshi sailors missing at China coast

MNA National Desk: Two Bangladeshi sailors are among 32 crew members of an Iranian oil tanker that went missing after a fire broke out following a collision with a bulk freighter at China’s eastern coast.

According to China’s transport ministry, the other 30 crew members were from Iran, reported news agency.

The oil tanker ‘SANCHI’ and the Hong Kong cargo ship collided 160 nautical miles off the east coast of China around 8pm on Saturday, according to China’s Ministry of Transportation.

The oil tanker began leaking after the collision and a fire broke out. Rescue operations are underway to find the remaining sailors.

The SANCHI was carrying 136,000 tonnes of condensate, an ultra light crude oil from Iran to South Korea.

The Hong Kong cargo ship, the CF Crystal, was carrying 64,000 tonnes of grain from the US to Guangdong, the ministry said.
