200 mango trees razed on Rajshahi University

MNA Education Desk: Around 200 mango trees on the Rajshahi University (RU) campus were burnt down by miscreants. University authorities said a group of miscreants might have set fire to the mango orchard in Vadra area, adjacent to the campus, consisting of nearly six hundred trees.

On information, fire fighters appeared at the spot and put out the flame around 6:00pm, said Nurul Islam, assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defense of Rajshahi.

The RU authorities lodged a general diary with Motihar police station over the incident and urged police to look into the incident, said RU pro-vice chancellor professor Ananda Kumar Saha.

A probe body was formed to look into the matter.
