Banani univ girls rape: Police press charges against 5 accused


MNA National Desk: Police on Thursday pressed charges against five people including Ahmed Shafat and his friend Nayeem Ashraf in the Banani double rape case. The three other accused are Ahmed Shafat’s driver Billal Hossain, bodyguard Rahmat alias Azad and associate Shadman Sakif. Ismat Ara Ame, inspector of women support and investigation centre of Dhaka metropolitan police, submitted the chargesheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in the afternoon. Moudud files writ with HC against RAJUK eviction drive


MNA National Desk: A writ petition was filed with the High Court on Thursday challenging the legality of the eviction of BNP senior leader Moudud Ahmed from his Gulshan residence. Layer Mahbub Uddin Khokon filed the writ petition on behalf of Moudud Ahmed. Earlier, on Wednesday, Rajdhahi Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) took over BNP senior leader Moudud Ahmed’s Gulshan house following a court order. Fitra fixed at Tk 65 minimum per head


MNA National Desk: Fitra has been fixed at a minimum of Tk 65 again this year. The amount of the money, or the equivalent foodstuff, is distributed among the poor during Sadkatul Fitr or Fitra before the Eid-ul-Fitr congregation. The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Fitr Fixing Committee of Islamic Foundation held at conference room of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on Thursday morning. MNA National Desk: BNP’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday visited ailing Hefajat-e Islam Ameer Shah Ahmed Shafi at a city hospital. Fakhrul along with party leader Mir Mohammad Nasir went to Asgar Ali Hospital in old Dhaka around 1:30pm. On Tuesday, the 95-year-old Hefajat ameer was airlifted to the hospital at Gendaria in the capital by a helicopter as he has been suffering from various old-age complications, including high-blood pressure, diabetes and respiratory problem.
