PM Sheikh Hasina flies to Sweden via London


MNA National Desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has left for Sweden via London on Tuesday for the first-ever bilateral visit. A VIP Biman Bangladesh flight left Dhaka with the prime minister and her delegation on Tuesday at 12:10pm. The flight is scheduled to arrive in London on Tuesday night. She will stopover in London for a day to spend time with family members. Her niece Tulip Siddiq has been re-elected MP in the British elections on Jun 8. Landslides in Rangamati, Bandarban kill 20


MNA National Desk: More than 20 people were killed in separate landslides in different area of Rangamati and Bandarban districts on Tuesday. Identities of all deceased could not be known immediately. Around 13 bodies were recovered at Rangamati, six at Bandarban and four people were found dead at Chittagong after the mudslides. Moreover, a man was killed as tree fell on him at Kaptai upazila of Rangamati and a young man went on missing in the River Karnaphul. Power outage occurs in several areas of Rangamati. MNA Editorial Desk: Bangladesh’s deputy consul general in New York was indicted on Monday on charges of labour trafficking and assault for forcing his servant to work without pay through threats and intimidation, a New York City prosecutor said. Mohammed Shaheldul Islam has limited diplomatic immunity and was ordered to surrender his passport when he appeared before Queens Supreme Court Justice Daniel Lewis, said Queens District Attorney Richard Brown in a statement. MNA Business Desk: Bangladesh has beaten Pakistan and Nepal to be elected deputy member of the Asia Pacific region subcommittee of the International Labour Organization’s governing body. Bangladesh bagged 190 votes while its South Asian contenders Nepal and Pakistan polled 173 and 150 votes respectively in the election held in Geneva, Switzerland on Monday night, reported news agency.
