Attack launched to kill me: DU VC

MNA National Desk: Dhaka University Vice-chancellor Professor Mohammad Akhtaruzzaman on Monday claimed that the attack made on his residence during angry protests against the existing quota system in public service was a planned one to kill him.

He came up with the remarks while briefing reporters at his office in the morning. The VC also claimed that the attackers are not DU students but outsiders.

‘The attack was not carried out by the quota protesters. Masked attackers were trained and they came to kill me,’ he said, adding that their aim was to destabilise the situation.

A group of protesters demanding reforms in the quota system in public service broke the main entrance of the VC’s residence and ransacked several rooms and furniture early Monday.
