Aziz Ahmed named as the new Army Chief

MNA National Desk: The government has appointed Lieutenant General Aziz Ahmed as the new chief of Bangladesh Army, reports news agency.

The Ministry of Defence issued a notice in this regard on Monday.

He will be promoted as a General and take over the charge as Army Chief on June 25 for next three years, it said.

He will replace General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq.

Lieutenant General Aziz Ahmed is currently serving as the Quartermaster General of Bangladesh Army.

As a major general, he previously performed as director general of Border Guard Bangladesh, and the GOC of 33 Infantry Division stationed at Comilla Cantonment.
