Bangladesh secure win against Zimbabwe

MNA Sports Desk: Bangladesh beat Zimbabwe by 28 runs in the first ODI of a three-match series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday.

Bangladesh post 272 runs target to win after 50 over against visiting Zimbabwe.

Opener Imrul Kayes scored a century as he helped Bangladesh to recover after an unsteady start.

Imrul Kayes’ career-best 144 hauled Bangladesh back from 139 for 6 in the 30th over to 271 for 8. A bulk of the recovery was courtesy a 127-run seventh-wicket stand – a Bangladesh record – with Mohammad Saifuddin.

Imrul struck 13 fours and six sixes in his 140-ball innings, as Bangladesh added 85 off the last 10 overs.
