Bangladeshi real estate trader stabbed dead in New York

MNA National Desk: A Bangladesh-born US citizen was stabbed to death in the Bronx of New York Wednesday night.

The deceased, Zakir Hossain, 44, is a real estate businessman and came from Pathantila village in Fenchuganj upazila of Sylhet.

Family sources of the deceased said Zakir was stabbed by his landlord following a long-standing altercation between them over house rent. Zakir was rushed to the nearby Jacobi hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Police detained the landlord for his alleged involvement in the murder. It has been known that Zakir Khan was a registered Democrat supporter.

Zakir came to America in 1992 and studied in New York. Later he started a real estate business and was a very popular face in Bengali community in New York.
