Massive fire at Banshbari slum in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur

MNA National Desk: At least 150 shanties were burnt as massive fire broke out at Banshbari slum in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur area in the early hours of Thursday.

The fire originated at around 3:25am, and soon overwhelmed the whole slum near the Shia mosque in the area.

On information, a total of 15 units of firefighters rushed in and brought the fire under control after almost two hours of their frantic efforts at around 5:25am.

The fire service officials could not confirmed the amount of damages in the fire. It has been believed that the fire destroyed around 200 shanties in the slum.

The shanties in the slum are very small and made in different patterns, so they could not confirmed the precise number of damaged sheds immediately.
