BCB made Shakib as new test captain

MNA Sports Desk: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has made Shakib Al Hasan the new captain of Bangladesh Test team.

Mushfiqur Rahim, who had been serving as Test skipper since 2011, was dropped from his leading role, according to the BCB decision.

It could not yet be ascertained if Mushfiq will be able to retain his position as wicket-keeper batsman.

The BCB made the announcement after a meeting on Sunday. Also, Test vice captain Tamim Iqbal has been replaced by Mahmudullah, the BCB added.

Mushfiqur’s position as Test skipper has been shaky since Bangladesh’s disastrous tour of South Africa where the Tigers lost all two Test matches and three one-day internationals. Coach Chandika Haturusingha resigned after the tour.

Shakib, the world famous all rounder, recently replaced Mashrafe as T20 captain earlier this year.
