BCL post-deprived leaders give 48-hour ultimatum

MNA Career & Education Desk: The post-deprived leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) have demanded cancellation of the newly formed ‘controversial’ committee in 48 hours.

They also threatened to go on hunger strike and mass resignation id their demand is not met within the stipulated time.

The ultimatum was given at a press conference held at Madhu’s canteen of Dhaka University on Tuesday.

Over 200 leaders who deprived of getting any post or their desired post in the new committee were present in the press conference.

BCL previous committee’s publicity and publication secretary Saif Babu read out a written statement and gave the ultimatum.

Earlier on July 31, the ruling party’s student wing BCL announced a partial committee naming Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Raza and Golam Rabbani as its president and general secretary respectively.

The other posts of the central committee remained vacant.

On Monday afternoon, a 301-member full-fledged central committee was announced through a press release that led to a protest by some leaders who were deprived of desired posts in the body.

A clash took place between two opposing factions of BCL at Madhu’s Canteen on Monday evening over holding a press conference in this regard, leaving at least seven injured.
