Pre-registration for Holy Hajj begins

Pre-registration of this year’s Holy Hajj begins today. Minister for Religious Affairs, Motiur Rahman inaugurated the pre-registration program on Sunday under the Hajj E-Services (electronic services). An individual, who intends to go on the Hajj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia under the government arrangements, will need to pay BDT 30,000, the minister said. To avail the arrangements of private agencies, it will cost BDT 30,752. These fees can be submitted via 24 banks. Fazle Kabir as new Bangladesh Bank Governor

Former Finance Secretary, Fazle Kabir will be the new governor of Bangladesh Bank. He has been assigned the role on Tuesday by the government immediately after the resignation of the former governor, Atiur Rahman, who tendered his resignation over the cyber heist which cost Bangladesh $80 million at least. Finance Minister Muhith indicates big change in the banking sector. He told the media on Monday, “I am waiting for Aitur (the governor)”. He also added, “Definitely there would be changes.
