Court directs for giving division to Khaleda

MNA National Desk: A Dhaka court on Sunday directed the authorities concerned to give a division status to jailed BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia as per the jail code.

The special judge court-5 passed the order at about 11:15am after hearing a petition.

Earlier in the morning, Khaleda’s counsels Barrister Zakir Hussain Bhuyian and advocate Aminul Islam filed the petition seeking a division for her.

The Special Court-5 on Thursday delivered the 632-page verdict against Khaleda, her elder son Tarique Rahman and four others on different charges in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

The Anti-Corruption Commission had filed the case with Ramna Police Station in July 2008, accusing Khaleda and the five convicts of misappropriating over Tk 2.1 crore that had come from a foreign bank as grants for orphans.
