MNA National Desk: Mayor Anisul Haque on Friday said that Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) is not responsible for spreading Chikungunya fever in the area.

We are trying our best to kill mosquitoes outside residences. It’s not possible to go every house to kill mosquitoes,” Annisul said at a press briefing in the capital.

”Chikungunya-Bearing mosquitoes virus born in dirty environment of house.” He claimed.

DNCC has taken comprehensive steps to kill mosquitoes by spraying medicines, he pointed out.

He, however, assured the people that the city corporation has taken all necessary steps to combat the disease.

Health Minister Mohammad Nasim on Tuesday questioned the two city corporations’ sincerity in eliminating mosquitoes saying their inefficiency allowed the outbreak of the of the disease in the capital.

The DNCC mayor said, “We have started a crush programmee at 11 wards in Dhaka South City Corporation area.”

“The programme will continue. Some 300 workers are working to combat the disease,” he added.

“The city corporation can operate a mosquito killing programmee outside residences, but Ades mosquitoes breed in fresh water inside houses,” he explained.
