DU teachers want ‘Special Cell’ for students

MNA Education Desk: Teachers of Dhaka University (DU) have demanded formation of a special cell for ensuring security and dignity of the university students.

The demand came from a human chain rally held on the campus on Sunday following alleged driven out of some female students from Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall on Thursday midnight.

The DU teachers held the human chain rally under the banner of ‘Conscious Teachers’ at the foot of Oporajeyo Bangla of the university around 11am.

Professor MM Akash of the Department of Economics presided over the human chain rally.

Noted writer and researcher Syed Abul Maksud termed students’ assault in Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall as first institutionalised form of women repression.

Prof Robaet Ferdous of Mass Communication and Journalism Dept said the conscious teachers are beside with the students.
