22-run victory

England seal 22-run victory over Bangladesh

22-run victoryMNA Sports Desk: England have pulled of a dazzling 22-run victory as Ben Stokes has got the job done for his team in the same over in Chittagong test.

He made the greatest use of the new ball and grabbed two wickets in the same over to carry his team over the line. Shafiul Islam departs as he didn’t offer a shot and the ball struck his pads.

The on field umpire gave it out and Bangladesh reviewed the decision, the impact was although outside but since Shafiul didn’t offer a shot, he was ruled out.

For the first 20 minutes of the morning, Bangladesh seemed as if they might get the small peak. Sabbir Rahman collected three runs off Broad’s first over, and Taijul Islam picked up four with a flap over the wicketkeeper’s head off Stokes. The crowd cheered every single; English hearts began to beat a little faster.

Taijul took the strike with a single off the last ball of the day’s third over, from Stuart Broad, allowing Stokes a potential full over with Sabbir beached at the non-striker’s end.

With his very next delivery, Stokes overturned yet another defective lbw decision from Dharmasena after Taijul moved too far across his stumps as the third umpire also kept the field decision.

Earlier, the fourth day began with England resuming on 228-8 in their second innings but they were only able to add 12 runs to that total before they were bowled out.

Bangladesh closed day four on 253-8 having been set 286 to win by England. It leaved the hosts just 33 runs away from recording their first Test victory over England.

However, England take a 1-0 lead in the series and are now boosting with self-confidence.
