Get ready to face summer sun rays

MNA Life Style Desk: Summer has already knocked our doors and it means business as you step out of the house and you can literally feel the sun heat burning your skin. Besides dehydrating the body, the extreme temperature can cause havoc on the skin and can cause tanning, pigmentation, early ageing and so on. As you prepare to show more skin, get ready to face the sun’s rays with some summer skin tips.

Drink enough water every day

Higher temperatures and more time outdoors leads to internal dehydration, which can result in headaches and dizzy spells. Eight 8-ounce glasses of plain, filtered water every day help maintain critical moisture balance of the body and skin, and assist in detoxification.

Sunscreen is must

Throw away last year’s unused sunscreen for a new bottle. Sunscreens aren’t meant to last forever, and seeing most people don’t use as much as they should. Buy a new sunscreen that has UVA and UVB products and comes in SPF 30 and SPF 70. You should be using a shot glass full for your body and a full teaspoon just on your face.

Take minimal make-up

During summers less make-up is best. Under the intolerant sun, natural looks are best. If you intend to use foundation then also apply face powder with SPF to avoid patchy skin. To protect your lips always use a gloss or a lip balm with an SPF of 15 to make your lips fresher.

Use emollients

Emollients are important during extremely dry weather. They work by increasing the ability of the skin to hold water, providing the skin with a layer of oil to prevent water loss and lubricating the skin.

Protect your feet

Use a foot scrub and a file in the shower once or twice per week. Make sure to use sunscreen on the top of your feet too.
