MNA Sports Desk: India beat Bangladesh by an innings and 130 runs in the first of the two-Test series in Indore, India on Day 3.
With the win, India took a 1-0 lead in the 2-match series with the final match — first Day/Night Test on India — set to take place from November 22 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Bangladesh were bundled out for 213 in the second innings.
Times of India adds: The stars of the win in the Test for India were run-machine Mayank Agarwal and the pacers. The trio of Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav took a total of 14 wickets in the match to demolish the visitors in both the innings.
After bundling out Bangladesh for 150 in the first innings, Mayank’s 243-run masterclass set the platform for an innings win for India. In the second innings, Bangladesh showed a little more fight (213 all out) but that was not enough to avoid an innings defeat.
Fast bowler Mohammed Shami improved his match tally to six wickets after lunch, having Mahmudullah caught at slip for 15.
Mushfiqur and Liton Das then put on 63 runs for the sixth wicket before Ravichandran Ashwin broke the stand. Mushfiqur, who was dropped by Rohit Sharma at second slip off Shami on four, completed his 20th Test fifty but fell to Ashwin for 64.
India rode on opener Mayank Agarwal’s 243 to pulverise the Bangladesh bowlers and amass 493 runs in the 1st innings.
