Intern doctors withdraw cease-work following BCL intervention

MNA National Desk: Intern doctors have withdrawn their indefinite cease-work after five days following Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) intervention and assurance by Health Minister Mohammed Nasim.

Health ministry’s information director Parikshit Chowdhury said a decision to this effect was taken after representatives of doctors and medical interns met the Health Minister Mohammed Nasim at his Dhanmondi residence on Monday.

Independent Doctors Council or SWACHIP president Prof Iqbal Arsalan, Chhatra League president Saifur Rahman Sohag and other representatives of the medical interns were present at the meeting.

Nasim has assured them that penal actions against the Bogra interns will be dropped. Interns responded with a cease-work agitation in hospitals for the last five days, causing much suffering to patients.
