Khulna city election ends

MNA National Desk: Voting came to an end in the Khulna City Corporation election on Tuesday amid allegations of rigging and violence, reported new agency.

The allegations of casting fake votes by activists of the ruling Awami league sparked violence in the area. At least five BNP polling camps have reportedly been vandalised.

The voting continued until 4pm.

A total of five mayoral candidates, 148 general councillor and 38 reserved-seat female councillor candidates are there in the election race.

The mayoral contenders are Awami League’s Talukdar Abdul Khalek, Nazrul Islam Manju of BNP, Jatiya Party’s Shafiqur Rahman Mushfiq, Islami Andolan Bangladesh’s Maulana Mozammil Haque and CPB’s Mizanur Rahman Babu.
