MNA Culture & Entertainment Desk: Musical legend Lucky Akhand seeks government help for treatment. Famous singer-composer-lyricist-music director, who has engrossed and enthralled his admiring fans with his excellent and harmonious music, is looking for financial support from his massive array of followers as well as the government for the expensive treatment..
The popular singer has been fighting lung cancer for a long time now and just last Friday, he was taken to Birdem Hospital and from there to the capital’s United Hospital.
The fee of his treatment is more than what his family can afford, and for this reason he is expecting for economic help.
Lucky Akhand said, “At the moment, I am in dire need of financial help. That is why; I am reaching out to the government as well the people to help me out. Some close people have financially helped me out, but the requirements exceed that. I wish for everyone’s prayers.”
However, he was taken to Bangkok’s Paithai hospital in September last year where he experienced operation. He reverted to Bangladesh in October, but after his condition started worsening, he was taken back again to Bangkok in November for chemotherapy.
He returned to Bangladesh in March this year. For his treatment last year, the Government of Bangladesh also walked forward. Returning to the country, he appeared to be doing improved and even started working on some new songs. Since last week, he started experiencing uneasiness, which have resulted him being admitted to the hospital.
Lucky Akhand was born on 18 June in 1956, is associated with the musical band Happy Touch. He composed notable songs including Ei Neel Monihar, Abar Elo Jey Shondhya and Amaye Deko Na.
He performed in music programs for children on television and radio during 1963-1967. He was enlisted as a music composer of HMV Pakistan when he was 14 and a musician of HMV India at 16.
Some of the notable songs of his album were – Agey Jodi Jantam, Amay Dekona, Mamonia, Ei Neel Monihar and Hridoy Amar.
