MNA Feature Desk: Legendary musician and freedom fighter Lucky Akhand’s first anniversary of death is being observed today.
Family members, friends and followers of Akhand will recall the late singer-composer through different programmes.
A milad and dua mahfil was held at Lucky Akhand’s Armanitola residence in Dhaka on Friday.
Akhand, who composed many popular songs like Abar elo je sandhya, Ei neel manihar, Amay deko na, Ke banshi bajay re, Agey jadi jantam, Jekhanei simanta tomar, Tumi ki dekhechho and others, was born on June 18, 1956.
He was introduced to music at an early age. He received his first music lessons from his father at the age of five. He later performed in music programmes for children on television and radio during 1963-1967.
He started his career with self-titled solo album Akhand in 1984. The album was released under the banner of Sargam.
He passed away on April 21, 2017 after suffering from lung cancer.
