MNA Feature Desk: Bangladesh will today observe the National Day of Sports for the first time since the United Nations General Assembly three years ago declared April 6 as the International Day of Sports for Development and Peace (IDSDP).
The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace is an annual celebration of the power of sport to drive social change, community development and to foster peace and understanding.
Creating a historical link to the first modern Olympic Games in 1896, 6 April was declared the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in 2013, and has been celebrated each year ever since 2014.
To mark the day, which was also declared the national sports day in Bangladesh, the National Sports Council (NSC) will hold a colorful rally with the participation of athletes, organizers, officials of different federations, sports journalists and government officials.
The rally will start in front of the Sheikh Russel Roller Skating Complex adjacent to the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) and move through the Zero Point to the National Press Club before ending at the BNS torch gate, said an NSC press release.
