MNA National Desk: The Supreme Court on Wednesday set January 2 for next hearing on the gazette notification that issued on lower court judges’ conduct rules.
A four-member Appellate Division bench, led by acting Chief Justice Abdul Wahhab Miah, fixed the date as a member of the bench remained absent.
The apex court, in its order, said as a member of the bench remained absent for the death of his relative, the hearing will not be conducted today which was the second in its cause list.
Earlier on Monday, the government issued gazette notification on service rules and conduct for lower court judges, a day after three-day time extension by the apex court.
The lower judiciary was officially separated in November 2007 but the disciplinary rules for lower court judges are yet to be formulated.
The Law Ministry on May 7, 2015 sent a draft of the rules to the Supreme Court which is similar to the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules 1985.
