Non-MPO teachers call off hunger strike

MNA National Desk: The teachers and employees of non-MPO educational institutions, who went on hunger strike for enlistment under the government’s MPO facilities, called off their strike on Friday following assurance of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Prime Minister’s personal secretary Sajjadul Hasan and education secretary Sohrab Hossain went to the Jatiya Press Club along with Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzamman Mia around 4:15pm and informed them the PM’s assurance, reported news agency.

Earlier on Tuesday, the demonstrators ignored Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid’s assurance, and vowed to continue their strike until an assurance is made to meet their demand with a timeframe from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
