Non-MPO teachers to continue strike

MNA National Desk: The teachers and employees of schools not enlisted under the MPO have decided to continue their fast until death as they were not convinced with the proposal of education minister Nurul Islam Nahid.

Nahid on Tuesday went to speak to the agitating teachers and employees, who had been observing the hunger strike in front of the National Press Club since Sunday.

The minister arrived at the Jatiya Press Club around 11:00am and took attempt to break their strike.

Nurul Islam Nahid also gave them assurance of fulfilling their demand. He informed that Finance Minister have agreed to materialise their demand.

But the Federation of Teachers and Employees of Non-MPO Educational Institutions, the platform under which the teachers and employees are demonstrating, rejected the proposal put forward by the education minister saying that it lacked any specific time-frame.
