footpathsMNA National Desk: The High Court issued a contempt-of-court rule against four police officers-in-charge for not applying its order to free roads and footpaths from Zero Point to Sadarghat on Monday in the capital from illegal establishments, reported news agency.

A HC bench of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice Kazi Md Ejarul Haque Akondo issued the rule asking why legal steps would not be taken against them after hearing a petition filed by Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB).

Earlier on February 26, 2012, following a writ petition filed by HRPB, the HC ordered the police to take steps in 48 hours to free the roads and footpaths from Zero Point to Sadarghat area in the capital to facilitate easy movement of people and vehicles.
