Operation Twilight: two militants killed so far, operation continues

MNA Editorial Desk: Gunshots and explosions were heard on Monday as the Operation Twilight led by Bangladesh Army Commandos continues at the suspected militant hideout at Shibbari area in South Surma upazila of Sylhet city.

Earlier, two suspected militants have been killed during the raid at the militant hideout since Saturday. The operation is underway for the fourth day amid tight security around the building.

Six people, including two policemen, were killed in explosions near that building a day earlier. Several explosions have occurred in the area, including a large blast Sunday afternoon. Police have barred civilians, including journalists, from the area.

However, the local people are suffering as the gas and power supplies have been cut off since Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the attacks in Sylhet, according to the SITE Intelligence group, citing the Islamic State news agency Amaq.
