PM pays homage to Bangabandhu at Tungipara

MNA National Desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara in Gopalganj on the 43rd anniversary of assassination of Bangabandhu.

Later, the Prime Minister along with her family members took part in munajat.

Accompanied by Sheikh Rehana, the younger daughter of Bangabandhu, and other family members, the premier then offered munajat at the mazar seeking eternal peace of departed souls of Father of the Nation, Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib and other martyrs of August 15, 1975 massacre.

Prayers were also offered seeking continued peace, progress and prosperity of the nation.

Later, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and other AL leaders placed a wreath on Bangabandhu’s grave.

Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and Awami League leaders then paid their homages.

Cabinet members, AL leaders and higher officials of army and civil administration offered special prayers organised by Gopalganj district administration at around 11am in the mausoleum complex.

Bangabandhu’s grave complex later opened for all and thousands of people poured into the venue to pay their respects.
