Police raid two militant hideouts in Moulvibazar

MNA Editorial Desk: Police cordoned off two residential buildings at Sadar upazila in Moulvibazar suspecting those to be militant hideouts on Wednesday morning.

Police raided a building at Barhat area of Moulvibazar city and another resident house in the Sadar upazila’s Fatehpur area. Gas and electric supplies of the area were also cut off.

Police fired back to the building as miscreants opened fire and hurled two grenades at police from the building.  Members of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit joined the police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on the spots, police said.

However, the two buildings are around 20 kilometres far from each other and both the houses are owned by Saiful Islam, a Bangladeshi expatriate living in London.

The local administration shut down all the educational institutions in and around the spots for ensuring the security of civilians.
