MNA National Desk: Former President of India Pranab Mukherjee arrives in city on Sunday afternoon on a four-day private visit.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali will receive him at the airport as a Jet Airlines flight carrying Mukherjee is scheduled to be landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 4.00 pm today.
Pranab will join a literary conference here with holding meetings with President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during his Bangladesh visit.
The former Indian President will attend a special convocation in Chittagong University on Tuesday and will be conferred honorary D. Lit degree.
Pranab Mukherjee will also visit Bangabandhu Memorial museum at Dhanmondi-32 in the city to pay respect to the Father of the Nation Bangabondhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He is expected to visit the home of Martyr Surya Sen at Noapara village under Raozan Upazila in Chittagong. He will join a dinner to be hosted by Finance Minister AMA Muhith during his stay in Dhaka.
He will leave Dhaka on January 18 wrapping up his four-day private visit. Pranab Mukherjee, who served as the 13th President of India, went on retirement in July this year.
