MNA Culture & Entertainment Desk: Famous singer and composer Lucky Akhand, who created many timeless Bangla songs, is no more. He was 61.
After a long battle with lung cancer, the artiste died in Dhaka on Friday evening. After his health condition deteriorated further, Lucky Akhand was taken to the Mitford Hospital in the capital where physicians declared him dead.
Some of Lucky’s notable songs are ‘Agey jodi jantam’, ‘Amay dekona’, ‘Abar elo je shondha’, and ‘Ei neel monihar’, among others.
The body of freedom fighter was taken at Central Shaheed Minar after the first namaj-e-janaza of the artiste was held at Armanitola playground in Dhaka at 10:00am on Saturday morning.
The body will be kept at the Central Shaheed Minar in the city from 11:00am to 12:00 noon for paying respect by people.
Earlier, his body was taken to his Armanitola residence from Birdem Hospital in the morning. The second namaj-e-janaza wil be held on the compound of Dhaka University central mosque.
Later, it will be buried at Mirpur Martyred Intellectual Graveyard in the afternoon.
