MNA Education Desk: The Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday extended a stay order for 10 more days on the High Court order that had directed the authorities concerned to reopen all the branches of Lakehead School.
The court also asked the state counsel to file a regular leave to appeal to the Appellate Division against the High Court order.
On Nov 6, the education ministry ordered the district administration to shut the school. The next day, a police team led by a magistrate shut down the school’s branches in Dhanmondi and Gulshan.
The five-member appeals bench led by acting Chief Justice Abdul Wahhab Miah also ordered authorities to probe allegations of links to militancy of the school administration or staff and update the court by Nov 30.
On 16 November, chamber judge Syed Mahmud Hossain stayed until 19 November the High Court order for reopening the Lakehead Grammar School after hearing an appeal of the government filed by the attorney general.
