SSC exams to be deferred for DNCC by-polls

MNA Education Desk: The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations of Dhaka Board of February 24 and 25 will be rescheduled to March due to the by-polls of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).

Acting secretary of Election Commission (EC) Helal Uddin Ahmed confirmed the matter, after attending a meeting with chairmen of Dhaka Education Board, Madrasah Education Board and Technical Education Board at the secretariat this afternoon.

SSC and its equivalent examinations of 2018 were scheduled to begin on 2 February and continue until 26 February.

The DNCC mayoral post fell vacant with the death of its mayor Annisul Huq on 30 November.

Apart from holding by-polls to the mayoral post, the commission has also decided that elections will be held to the councillor posts and six special councillor posts reserved for woman for the 18 new DNCC wards and to the same number of councillor and special councillor posts for the 18 new Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) wards the same day.
