Arrest warrants issued against nine policemen in Ex-Major Sinha killing

MNA Editorial Desk: A Cox’s Bazar court issued warrants for the arrest of nine policemen including officer-in-charge of Teknaf Model Police Station Pradeep Kumar Das in a case over the killing of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan in Teknaf. Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farah issued the arrest warrants against them after taking the case into cognizance on Wednesday. MNA Editorial Desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is not authorised to arrest any suspect directly. She also urged public organisations and statutory bodies, including the ACC, to perform their jobs maintaining own jurisdictions. “The ACC is not authorised to create any prison to detain anyone after one’s arrest. MNA National Desk: Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda on Saturday said that police do not arrest anybody without any reason, reported news agency. The CEC told at a briefing after ending a meeting with executive magistrates at commission’s Agargaon office in the capital. “Members of law enforcer are working under EC. EC ordered the policemen.
