32-km tailback on Dhaka-Chattogram highway


MNA National Desk: Passengers continued to suffer as they were getting stuck in a 32-kilometre tailback on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway on Thursday, reported news agency. A 22-km tailback was seen stretching from Daudkandi’s Meghna-Gumti bridge toll plaza to Madhaiya in Chandina upazila while a 10-km gridlock in Munshiganj district. Hundreds of vehicles, including cattle-laden ones, remain stranded on both sides of the bridge, causing untold sufferings to the travellers. 210 members of Jamaat, Shibir detained from Chattogram motel


MNA National Desk: Police have detained at least 210 leaders and activists of the Jamaat-e-Islami and its student front Islami Chhatra Shibir, including the Jamaat ameer and Shibir president, from a Parjatan Corporation motel in Chattogram. They were detained in a raid on Motel Saikat on Station Road on Saturday night, said SM Mostaeen Hossain, deputy commissioner of the city police. Police raided the motel following a tip and detained more than two hundred people, he told reporters. Iftar items seekers killed in stampede


MNA National Desk: At least nine people were killed and several injured in stampede while collecting iftar items from a factory authorities ahead of Ramadan in Satkania upazila of Chattogram on Monday. Identities of the deceased could not be known. But, most of the victims are women. Seven militants held in Chattogram operation


MNA National Desk: RAB detained seven suspected militants in Chattogram operation, one of whom is an employee of the International Red Cross. The seven were detained in an operation in the Anandabag area near the Kotowali Police Station’s Old Biman Office RAB-7, said Assistant Director ASP Mimtanur Rahman.
