MNA National Desk: The much-awaited verdict in two cases filed over the grisly grenade attack on an Awami League rally in city’s Bangabandhu Avenue on August 21, 2004 will be delivered on Wednesday. The attack was launched on a political rally with the aim of killing the then opposition leader, now Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, claimed 24 lives and injured 300 others. MNA National Desk: A speedy trial tribunal in Dhaka on Tuesday fixed 10 October to deliver its verdict in two cases filed over the grenade attack on an Awami League rally in the capital on 21 August 2004. Tribunal Judge Shahed Nuruddin fixed the date on completion of the closing arguments on Tuesday. The judge also cancelled the bail of eight people accused who are now on bail and asked the authorities concerned to sent to jail. MNA National Desk: The 13th anniversary of the 21 August grenade attack is being observed on Monday with a renewed call for holding trials of perpetrators of the carnage. MNA National Desk: President Abdul Hamid has rejected a mercy plea applied by Harkat-ul-Jihad (Huji) chief Mufti Abdul Hannan, who was condemned to death in a case filed over the grenade attack on ex-British envoy Anwar Choudhury in 2004. “The honourable president rejected Mufti Hannan’s pleas for presidential clemency. We will take action according to the jail code,” the home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said.
