PM offers prayer at Sylhet shrines


MNA National Desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday offered fateha at the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA), Hazrat Shah Paran (RA) and Hazrat Gazi Borhan Uddin (RA) in Sylhet. The Prime Minister arrived here today to inaugurate different development projects as well as address a public rally. Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate 14 development projects and lay the foundation stones of 24 others. The PM will address a public rally on Sylhet Government Alia Madrasah ground in the afternoon. Tabligh Jamaat’s demo creates traffic chaos


MNA National Desk: A huge number of people, belonging to a faction of Islamic ideological movement Tabligh Jamaat, have demonstrated outside the Dhaka airport, crippling traffic in the northern part of the city. Police said the demonstrators protested the arrival of the Islamic organisation’s supreme council member Saad Kandhalvi from India, reported news agency. Protests started around 9am, before Kandhalvi’s arrival in Dhaka. Saad Kandhalvi who reached the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by a Thai Airways flight around 1:30pm. However, the Tabligh Jamaat activists did not withdraw the barricade till 4:00pm, disrupting traffic on the roads from Kakoli to Gazipur.

MNA Editorial Desk: A suicide bomber was killed as he attempted to attack a police check post at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport intersection in Dhaka at 8pm Friday. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility late Friday for a suspected suicide bomb attack outside the Bangladeshi capital’s main international airport, according to the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors jihadist communications. DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said the explosion took place at a trolley bag a man was carrying through the area. It is suspected that he was carrying a bomb in the bag.
