16 Maoists killed in India’s Maharashtra

MNA International Desk: In the biggest crackdown on Maoists in four decades in Maharashtra, security forces on Sunday gunned down at least 16 Maoists, including some women, in the state’s Gadchiroli district, an official said. Among those killed were at least a couple of high-ranking unit commanders, identified as Vijender N. Rauthu, 51, and Dolesh Madi Atram, 36. Indian police killed 18 Maoist rebels in a shoot-out

MNA International Desk: At least 18 Maoist rebels were killed in a shoot-out by Indian police on Monday in eastern India, a local officer said. Police claimed that they ambushed a meeting of 30 to 40 Maoists near the border of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh states, triggering a gun battle. “Police have so far recovered 18 dead bodies of the Maoists,” sub-inspector C.K.
