Police cordon off militant hideout in Rajshahi, 12 held


MNA National Desk: The police detained 12 people including three alleged militants after cordoning off a suspected militant hideout at Dangapara village in Tanore upazila of Rajshahi early Monday. MNA National Desk: Law enforcement agencies have cordoned off a number of houses suspecting militant dens at Court College area under Rajpara thana in Rajshahi city from Tuesday morning. A squad of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) raided in the Purbapara area of Haragram around 10:30am at night and cordoned off the houses in the area, police source said. However, police officials did not confirm whether they had specific information regarding militant presence in the area. Earlier on Sunday, police had conducted a raid in Gazipur’s Tongi area and detained ten suspected militants in possession of extremist literature, weapons and drugs.
