MNA National Desk: Prime Minister’s ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy on Tuesday inaugurated the expanded national emergency services through using toll-free hotline number ‘999’ countrywide. The number – 999- is an official emergency telephone number used in a number of countries around the world allowing the caller to contact emergency services for urgent assistance. Immigration police barred Shafik Rehman from UK flight


MNA Editorial Desk: The immigration police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport barred journalist Shafik Rehman from going UK on Thursday. Shafik Rehman, who is also a British citizen, said he was barred from boarding a flight from Dhaka to London, where his wife is receiving treatment for leukaemia. MNA National Desk: Supreme Court upheld a High Court order on Monday that granted bail to the Daily Amar Desh acting editor Mahmudur Rahman on charges of abducting and killing Sajeeb Wazed Joy. A five-member bench of the Appellate Division led by chief justice SK Sinha passed the order after hearing a petition filed by the state seeking a stay on the order.
