Dhaka University announced Tk 6.64 billion budget


MNA Education Desk: The University of Dhaka (DU) Senate has passed a Tk 6.64 billion budget for Fiscal Year 2017-18 in the annual DU senate session held on Saturday. DU treasurer professor M Kamal Uddin placed the budget in the annual senate session at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Saturday with vice-chancellor professor AAMS Arefin Siddique in the chair. MNA Education Desk (JnU Correspondent): Samajtantrik Chhatra Front (SCF), a left-leaning student organisation of Jagannath University (JnU) unit on Tuesday demanded the cancellation of a 20-year long term Strategy Paper of UGC and implementation of the earlier announcement of Prime Minister in building new dormitories for the students of the university. SC ordered to shut down Darul Ihsan University

MNA Education Desk: The appellate division of Supreme Court issued an order to shut down all activities of Darul Ihsan University (DIU) over ‘running certificate business’ by opening its branches in Dhaka. A four-member appellate division bench led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha issued the order on Wednesday. Attorney General Mahbube Alam, state prosecutor, said earlier, High Court ordered to shut down the activities of DIU due to several irregularities. Written tests for public university teachers appointment


MNA National Desk: The government of Bangladesh has recommended for taking written examinations along with viva voce for appointment of teachers at public universities. The ministry for education issued a statement on its website drawing consideration to the subject so that misdeeds can be restricted in the recruitment process. “Only viva voce for appointing teachers and officials creates scopes for irregularities,” stated the secretary of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
