MNA National Desk: The government has almost finished creating a legal framework for confiscating assets of war criminals from Bangladesh’s Liberation War, said Law Minister Anisul Huq. “The task of forfeiting their assets began last year. Death penalty for 5 Patuakhali war criminals


MNA National Desk: The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Monday convicted five persons from Patuakhali including Ishaq Shikder, and sentenced them to death for their crimes against humanity during the Liberation war. A three-member tribunal headed by ICT Chairman Justice Md Shahinur Islam pronounced the verdict after reading out 159-page verdict. The other four other accused are :  Abdul Ghani Hawladar, Abdul Awal alias Moulvi Awal, Abdus Sattar Pyada and Sulaiman Mridha. MNA National Desk: The Supreme Court has deferred appeal hearings on Jamaat-e Islami Assistant Secretary General ATM Azharul Islam, Jamaat leader Abdus Subhan and former minister of state Syed Mohammad Kaiser of the Jatiya Party following requests from both the state and the defence. On Tuesday morning, an appellate bench led by acting Chief Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah postponed the hearings to Nov 21.
