Tamim, Shakib fifties rescue Tigers

MNA Sports Desk: Pat Cummins ripped through the Bangladesh top order early in the morning, but Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan, both playing their 50th Test, have both then struck fifties to bring the team back to the game.

Winning the toss, skipper Mushfiqur Rahim opted to bat first, but it was a batting debacle that followed. Both Imrul Kayes and Sabbir Rahman failed to score a run after opener Soumya Sarkar could manage only eight to become the day’s first wicket.

The Tigers have 148 for 3 after 42 overs now, with Tamim unbeaten on 62 and Shakib on 71. Tamim has hit three sixes and four fours in his innings so far while Shakib has slammed 10 fours.
