BR to operate three-day special train services for Ijtema

MNA National Desk: Bangladesh Railway (BR) will operate three-day special train services on numerous terminuses for the devotees joining in the Biswa Ijtema that starts from Friday next at Tongi.

Alongside, two juma special train services also will be operated on Dhaka-Tongi-Dhaka route on 13 January (Friday), at the first day of the Ijtema, a railway ministry press release said on Wednesday.

As per the schedule, special trains will be operated to Tongi from Jamalpur and Laksham before the Akheri monajat on 13 and 14 January.

On the day of Akheri monajat, a total of seven special train services in the name of “Up Monajat Special trains 1,2,3,4,5,6,7” will be operated on Dhaka-Tongi route which starts journey from Dhaka at 5.45am in the morning, reported news agency.

Even two special trains will be operated on Tongi-Akhaura-Laksham and Tongi-Akhaura routes on the day of Akheri monajat.

Besides, a total of 11 special train services will be operated to different routes from Tongi after the Akheri munajat.

Meanwhile, for convenience of travelling by the devotees, a total of 29 inter-city trains heading toward the capital will halt at the Tongi railway station for two minutes starting from January 10 and it will continue before the Akheri munajat till 15 January, the release added.

The regular train services like Subarna Express, Tista Express, Kalni Express, Mahua Express, Turag Express, Dhaka-Naryanganj commuter, Dhaka-Tongi commuter, Dhaka-Jaydebpur commuter and Dhaka-Comilla commuter will be suspended during the day of akheri munajat.

The two phases of Ijtema will begin from 13-15 January and 20-22 January.
