Ruma Akhtar, 28-yaer-old, was picked up on Thursday by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police on charges of her involvement in the attack.
Her father, Shahaboddin Ahmed Badu, told to media that detectives took her away from their house saying she was a suspect in the July 1 attack. “But I don’t know the reason behind her detention,” he added.
However, the family of Ruma said that she went to Dubai six months ago but returned three months later. Ruma is the youngest among four children and she has a son with her former husband. She married another man but divorced again.
According to her father, Ruma had been speaking to people over phone and behaved like a mad person on her return from Dubai. She also used to ask people for money like beggars.
“Ruma had worked in several houses as maid. She had psychological problems. She was also taken to doctors over this issue.” her sister Sabina Akter said.
