MNA Feature Desk: Suicide is the second leading cause of death in the age group of 15-29 year olds all over the world. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), almost eight lakh people commit suicide every year, which comes to one person every 40 seconds. There are many more who attempt suicide.
The theme for this year’s World Suicide Prevention Day is ‘Working Together to Prevent Suicide.’
Various events and activities are organised all around the world for spreading awareness about suicide and mental health.
It is imperative that each one of us do our bit to raise awareness not only on the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day, but throughout the year.
It is important that the topic of mental illness be brought into the mainstream companies, schools, colleges and other institutions so that we are able to collectively create a group for those who suffer in silence.
