10 more die from coronavirus in Bangladesh, 492 new cases

MNA National Desk: Ten more people died of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Bangladesh in the 24 hours to 8:00am on Monday, raising the tally to 101.

Meanwhile, 492 others were diagnosed with COVID-19 during the same period, taking the number of such cases in the country to 2948, Additional Director General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana said.

Dr Nasima said that among the ten victims, eight are male and the two are female. Of them, two were between 41 to 50 age group, four were between 51 to 60 and four awere above 60 years of age.

A total of 2779 samples were tested in the 24 hour span and thus the total samples stood at 26,604.

Meanwhile, the tally of recovery has increased to 85 as 10 news recovered in last 24 hours.

The global death toll from coronavirus has reached 165,759 according to worldometer.info, a website that provides real-time updates.

The virus has so far infected 2,418,845 people, including those who died, around the world, the data shows.

Again, of the infected, 1,619,751 are currently being treated, and 54,200 of them are now in serious or critical condition.

Coronavirus was first reported in China in December last year.

As the virus began sweeping across the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.
