Tigers win the historic 100th test against Sri Lanka in Colombo

MNA Sports Desk: Bangladesh clinch historic 100th Test match beating Sri Lanka by four wickets to level Joy Bangla Cup series 1-1 in Colombo on Sunday.

Earlier, halfway through the second session of the day, the Tigers chasing 191 to win had reached 143/4 on the back of the unbroken 93-run partnership between Tamim and Shabbir, after Lankan spin legend had set nerves jangling with a wicked 2-wicket burst to get rid of Soumya Sarkar and Imrul Kayes prior to lunch.

There followed a torrid half hour or so till lunch was taken, with Bangladesh still a bit wobbly in their chase at 38/2.

Earlier, Bangladesh, who are playing their milestone 100th Test, bowled Sri Lanka out for 319 in the morning and were set a 191-run chase for their first Test victory against the islanders.

Tail-enders Dilruwan Perera (50) and Suranga Lakmal (42) continued to frustrate the Tigers’ bowlers with an 80-run stand for the ninth wicket in the morning after they resumed on an overnight 268 for 8.

Tamim was adjudged Man-of-the-Match while Shakib was awarded the Man-of-the-Series prize.
