Javed Patwary made new IGP

MNA National Desk: Dr M Javed Patwary has been made new Inspector General of Police (IGP). The Home Ministry confirmed this on Thursday through a gazette notification signed by Md Ilias Hossain, deputy secretary (police) of the ministry.

According to the notification, the appointment order of Javed, the former additional inspector general of special branch, as IGP will be effective from January 31. Javed Patwary will replace AKM Shahidul Hoque.

He joined the force in 1986 as an assistant superintendent of police through Bangladesh Civil Service exams in 1984. AKM Shahidul Haque, the current inspector general of police, will retire on January 31.
